Stationery
Great notebooks and pens are not only a rite of passage every school year, but in addition, they will make your life so much easier in class. While it’s tempting to carry around your laptop, they can be heavy and are an expensive item to replace should you break, so good old fashioned paper and pens is a must have for the new school year.

Technology

For some people, a laptop is going to be a better option as you have the option of transporting your computer around with you, but if you don’t need that mobile option, then you can bag a desktop with huge specifications for a similar price and it will far outlast your studies.
If you are a big tech fan, you could even go one step further and buy a digital notepad. This is a digital display similar to a tablet, with a pen that you use to write on. It will automatically save your scribblings for you, and you can then email them to yourself or send to a printer. It will also convert them to text format rather than handwriting if you wish.
Diary
Online calendars are great, but nothing beats a good old-fashioned planner for adding in class timetables, assignment due dates, etc. Organization is key to a successful year’s study! While planners from branded companies like Filofax are beautiful, they can be expensive, and so if you are looking for a cheaper alternative, you can use free online printables to create your own student planner!
Backpack
Having a good backpack is essential for every student. There are so many variations of backpack available, but some features you may want as a student include:
- Additional pockets for storing personal items
- Headphone output
- Laptop sleeves
- Multiple ways to carry (i.e., shoulder straps and a handle)
- Wide straps (the wider the straps, the less pressure on the shoulders when carrying heavy items like textbooks)
